So far three documents in three different formats have been created.
An epub document
A Table of Contents has been generated and displays in the left pane
A header bar has been created below the menu bar. It shows a font resize button, a search tool and a full screen button on the right side
The page number shows at the bottom of each page
Scrolling is performed using the page up/down keys of the keyboard or the slider at the bottom of the screen
The global look and feel is black and white
A PDF document
A Table of Contents has been generated and displays in the left pane, as well as at the top of the document
A header bar has been created below the menu bar with a number of buttons. A search applet is available off the Edit menu (or CRL+F combination)
Pages are numbered at the bottom of each page. Numbers in the preface and Table of Contents are in roman form
Scrolling is performed using the page up/down keys of the keyboard
The global look and feel is grey and white
A webhelp document
A Table of Contents has been generated and displays in the left pane along with a search tool
A header bar has been created below the menu bar with navigational links on the right side.
No page number at the bottom of each page
Scrolling is performed using the horizontal and vertical sliders of the browser or the page up/down keys of the keyboard
The global look and feel is grey and black with some colors in the left pane and the titles of the chapters.
These three documents already have a lot in common. What if we could make these changes?
Books generally have a cover page so we will want to give each document a cover page
A PDF looks better when page breaks occur at the section level
The reading of technical documents is more engaging when pictures illustrate the text.
We certainly don't want somebody else's icon or logo in our web pages.
A web page looks better when navigational links are replaced by navigational buttons.
For consistency with the other formats the navigational buttons should only appear in the header of the page
Finally we might change the colours in the web pages so their look and feel is more consistent with the look and feel in the other formats.
